Self-Portrait with Easel

I imagine that I can see so much in your self-portraits lately. When you did those three for your show, I thought you peered into shadows to guess at the person there- almost coy. The yellow one in Manhattan looked like a sunny soul poised for what would come next, rested and ready. In the dripping neckline one, I saw the symbolism of a hot seat. In this one, I imagine white knuckle tension, and fearful eyes, as the square of light behind your head fails to illuminate your face.
I wonder if any of the state of mind in what I see is really there, but I feel I can see it. All three of these Manhattan ones have beauty in them for me. I like them. The three from the show were lovely in their soft shadowiness.

nice work, Amy... the muted tones work well-- they go with the pose and offset the look in the eye. Figured you'd still be painting up a storm- glad to see that you are.
